Housing Targets
The Prime Minister intends to increase the housing targets to three million by the year 2020. This has been opposed by the Government Office for South East as the report wants only 32,000 not the 38,000 proposed be built in the South East because of problems that could occur to infrastructures.
It admits that the figures are actually lower than the building rate of the last couple of years but the report also points out that affordable housing was a must for the South East.
The Green Belt will be used if the numbers quoted are to be built but it felt that this would be appropriate if usage is necessary as it need not spoil the overall view if the build is done sympathetically.
